Going the distance: Mets 6, Braves 3

Well when you’re starting pitcher gets an RBI single in the first inning, I’m assuming your odds of winning are well above 90%.  Kind of the same old story for the Mets.  They score early on, do nothing after that, but hold on to win.

The offense really got some breaks in the first.  Although they got a legitimate first two runs thank to who…Daniel Murphy.  This guy is just unreal.  It seems like he delivers more than half the time.  Then the Braves defense helped the Mets score three more runs which turned out to be the difference.

Good to see David Wright hit a home run.  He has to pile up some numbers if he wants to win the MVP.

Mike Pelfrey was his usual dominant self tonight, but he went the distance for the first time in his career.  I have a feeling there’s plenty more where that came from.  The Mets have are 13-3 in his last 16 starts…which is pretty amazing.  I loved him before the year, but even I didn’t think he’d be this good in 2008.

I’m greedy and want a sweep tomorrow night.  Make sure to listen to tomorrow night’s show as Mike Silva will join us to talk about the team’s recent surge.
