Maine flustered: Astros 8, Mets 3

Well the Mets were bound to lose in a blowout eventually.  These losses are easier to take than when the bullpen completely blows it…but there’s still some things that worry me about this game.

First of all, John Maine hasn’t looked good in a while.  He had a great nine-pitch first inning, but he looked bad after that.  The starting rotation has been incredible lately and Maine is the biggest question mark.  I would consider moving him to the ‘pen soon because he’s probably going to the bullpen when the playoffs start anyway.  Why not get him accustomed to the role before October?

The offense continued to struggle tonight.  Brian Schneider has oddly been the only offensive spark lately.  It’s great to see him lighting it up, but obviously the Mets will need someone else to step it up.

Not much else to say about this one.  Hopefully Ollie Perez can get us a series win tomorrow afternoon.  It’s going to be tough against Mets-killer Randy Wolf.  Maybe the offense can get it going a little.
